Health & Safety

At Faber we put Health and Safety above all else. We have taken extensive measures in a very short space of time to ensure that good foundations were put in place on which to build the business; and we were proud to have achieved both Construction Line (Gold) and CHAS in our first year of trading.

In conjunction with our external Health and Safety consultants, we have developed a robust management system which underpins every aspect of the business; this in conjunction with the attitude and work ethic that we have worked hard to create amongst our small but dedicated team, has meant that we are able to ensure ongoing operational success – but more importantly, that our workforce goes home at the end of every shift safe and happy.

To ensure that standards are maintained, our projects are independently audited on a monthly basis by our external consultants; these reviewed internally as well as issued to our clients to incorporate often valuable feedback into the wider project.

We are dedicated to ensuring that our workforce is adequately trained and suitably competent for the operations they are expected to undertake. 100% of the workforce are CSCS card holders, all supervisors and managers hold the respective SSSTS and SMSTS training; and we look to provide further job specific training as required for the use of certain tools, access equipment or plant (all to industry recognised standards).

Accreditations

Safety and quality is paramount to the industry we operate within, we therefore choose not to rely solely upon our own policies and procedures (and internal implementation thereof) to ensure our safety and quality standards. We have achieved, and commit to maintaining the following 3rd party accreditations / certifications:

Meet The Team

Mike Denny

Managing Director

Mike has over 18 years’ experience in the construction industry, starting out as an apprentice joiner at the age of 16, and working his way up to being a contracts manager overseeing projects up to £2m. Throughout this time he has gained experience both operationally and commercially across a wide range of sectors including residential, leisure, education and healthcare.

Having been made redundant in early 2021, with the help of Sean, Faber Joinery & Installation Ltd was founded with the aim of carrying on the operational successes and relationships from their previous employment; whilst keeping together a core team of joiners and key operatives in the hope of establishing a safe, profitable and easy to work with joinery subcontractor.

Sean O’Dwyer

Contracts Manager

Sean's experience in the industry in invaluable to where we see Faber in the next 5 years’ time. Having been in the industry for over 30 years, there’s not much he hasn’t seen and done. Having managed the operational aspects on multiple concurrent projects (totaling up to £3.5m), Sean’s ability to proactively problem solve and collaborate with other trades is something that sets him apart.

Sean’s commitment to safety is something that he is keen on instilling in our workforce, and his son Jack is Faber’s first of hopefully many apprentices who will maintain the ethos that Faber has in investing time and resources to bridge the skills gap within our industry.

Andy Bradley

Commercial Manager

Andy has an extensive background in the commercial department for both main contract and subcontract businesses. Throughout this time he has amassed experience on projects ranging from £50k to £50m; generally being involved from the very early stages, right through to completion.

He brings to the business with him a good grounding in commercial aspects from his 17 years quantity surveying; but also a broad technical knowledge of joinery – due to his prior 10 years experience within the trade. Away from work, Andy is all about the great outdoors; and tries to spend as much time enjoying it as possible with his family. He has been involved with the Scout Association as an adult volunteer for nearly 20 years, working with young members of the local community.

Sam Royal

Project Manager

Sam started out on the tools, via an apprenticeship straight from leaving school at the age of 16. His passion for construction enabled him to quickly gather a breadth of knowledge and experience, leading inevitably to his rapid progress into construction management. Before joining Faber, Sam was involved in the running of a well established family business, where he oversaw and managed joinery packages for a variety of Tier 1 contractors on project values in excess of £90m.

During his time, Sam’s work has taken him oversees – plying his trade down under for while, whilst in between travelling; these experiences alongside his SMSTS training has distilled safety into the forefront of his decision-making. Above all else he prides himself on creating a safe work environment, for both trades and the public. Sams health and safety values also extend to being a very passionate mental health advocate, and he takes pride in implementing this ethos within our workforce.
