Mike progressed from starting out as an apprentice joiner to Contracts Manager – over a period of 15 years, within one business. Therefore, recognising ability and nurturing / supporting individual development is something which he is keen to promote and maintain within the business.
Even in the early days, when we only had 4 employees within the business – we also had 1 apprentice; something that we are keen to sustain as the company continues to grow. We work closely with the CITB, local colleges and contractors to provide regular placements, and a continual rolling programme for our apprentices. Such is our commitment that we are proud members of the 5% Club, and intend to remain so.
On a regular basis, our projects present the opportunity to actively engage with local communities to give a little something back – to date we have volunteered to be involved with high school careers sessions and employability workshops at job centres; we have also provided sheds, picnic benches, planters and bird boxes on many a community project local to sites where we have been working.
